Dear Family (written January 2025),
Some have asked about getting a discount due to your relationships and connections to the house. As caretaker I would like you to know the following information and express my appreciation to you for wanting to help preserve and continue this legacy.
1) The house is not and will not be listed on AirBnB or VRBO or any other similar booking service.
2) This website is the only mechanism used to maintain reservations.
3) The house is only for family and close friends (your guests) with connections to Ivin & Pearl and/or Glendon and Shirley Gee.
4) The operating costs for this house run anywhere from $10,000 to $12,000 per year just to keep the lawn mowed, lights on, insurance and property taxes paid, garbage pickup, etc. happening each year. It is self-managed (there is no onsite property manager).
5) Shirley Gee who owns this home has made it her wish for the home to remain a legacy that is made available to the Gee family in perpetuity and it is our intention to honor that wish for as long as it is feasible to do so.
6) The house is only open during the summer season which begins in late June and runs until Labor Day weekend, meaning there are only six weeks to divvy up the expenses amongst the guest who book the home. However, historically, since the end of Covid, we have only booked 2 or 3 weeks each summer, so the house is being heavily subsidized by an 87 year old widow, Shirley Gee, and the pricing has been set by her in accordance with what other properties of this size are being rented for along the Bear Lake Valley.
Conclusion: We hope that you will enjoy your stay and love the time you get to spend in a home which has remained in our family for more than 120 years so that future generations can and will enjoy the sense of gathering this home provides to the Gee clan. Thank you for helping us take good care of the property ... and please let us know immediately if there is anything that needs to be fixed or improved so that it can continue to be a special gathering place.

The Paris House is a private family home. It is owned and used by the Gee family as a "get away" destination during the summer June through August. Its use for vacations and family reunions is intended to be a service and amenity to church groups and families intent upon enjoying gathering in Paris and visiting Bear Lake and the surrounding area for that purpose. Anyone reserving or using the property is only able to do so due to their relationship to or close friendship with our family.
All money contributed to the Gee family for this house always has been and will continue to be used solely to offset the costs of maintaining this property for the use and enjoyment of the descendants of Ivin & Pearl Gee. Please note that the property is and always has been heavily subsidized by the owners of this 130 year old home.
Priority on all reservations will be given to the direct descendants of Ivin & Pearl Gee at management's discretion. This website/blog is intended as a tool to help facilitate those requests.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
